When you brush your teeth, you might feel like you're getting everything and every place in your mouth. However, when our dental hygienists take a look, we can tell that your teeth might need some work.
This is because sometimes, you're not getting all of those hard to reach areas. You are missing out specific areas that might see more plaque and build-up than others. There are signs to pay attention to on your own, at home, before these concerning areas turn into decay.
Your Brushing Technique Needs to Change if…
You feel that you have a layer of plaque on the outside of your teeth that you can feel. This doesn't have to be in the front, it can be in the back, as the back is the number one place our hygienists notice the issues with brushing at.
If you are having more and more build up that is causing decay. Again, in the back of the mouth more than the front. Usually when you brush, you are unaware of how you're brushing. By practicing mindful brushing, you can essentially find out where you are not brushing as well, or even at all, and where you might need to pay less attention to.
You do not floss. This is a big no-no. You need to make sure that you floss at least once a day. This removes build up in between the teeth that a brush is unable to get.
